The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles is launching a revitalization plan for the infamous property that ha been a staple of Beverly Hills for the past 50 years.
Some of the highlighted improvements are the following:
- New 120-room Five-Star Waldorf=Astoria hotel designed by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects.
- Revitalized 402-room Beverly Hilton with new luxury rooms, an expanded destination pool area, upgraded IAAC certified Executive Conference Center and a new Grand Entry.
- Create 120 luxury residences on the property.
- Generate $11.5 million in annual tax revenues and more than $11 million in one-time fees to the City of Beverly Hills to help fund police, fire, schools and parks.
- Generate nearly $55 million in annual spending at local retailers from hotel guests and new residents.
Not only are there many financial benefits for the city of BH and its residents, but it will improve the landscape of the this infamous intersection. I have grown up in L.A. all my life and felt that L.A., specifically the city of BH needs a project like this for the city and its visitors. BH has gotten very stale as of late, and its residents, specifically the older ones, don't want to change it at all.
CHANGE IS GOOD.
Change brings new opportunity, new business and brings excitement to a community. Not only this, but the project itself is pretty impressive. I'm a big fan of luxury and architecture, and there's lots of it in this revitalization plan.
There is a ballot for Beverly Hills residents this November 2008 put on my an organization trying to stop this revitalization plan. VOTE YES to revitalize the city.
It's important to think about the present, and more importantly the future...not dwell in the past.
Here are some photos of the before & after plans.
